Belinda Johnston

Principal

Ms Johnston became principal of Anchorage Park in 2018. It has always been her passion to work alongside dedicated parents, teachers, and support staff, ensuring students receive the very best learning outcomes.

"A sense of whanau and community is a strength of our school and we encourage students to live by a set of values that will help them to be great citizens in their communities. "What's best for the children?" is central to all the school's decision making."

Ms Johnston's door is always open, and she encourages students and parents to pop in, email or call her whenever they need to.

Mary Benjamin

Deputy Principal and Senior School Leader,

(Year 5 & 6)

Mrs Benjamin is our longest serving staff member and has been teaching at Anchorage Park since 1987.  Outside of school her interests include cats, crafts and teddy bears, especially Winnie the Pooh.

Lorraine Field

Room 4 (Year 3 & 4)

Mrs Field has been a teacher at Anchorage Park since 2016. She strongly believes that teaching young minds is a task that cannot be taken lightly and that all children are capable of learning if they have the motivation and direction from teachers. Mrs Field leads the STEM club. She is passionate about science and nurtures a love of bugs and the environment in her students.

Esther Carr

Room 5 (Year 3 & 4)

Miss Carr has been teaching at Anchorage Park since 2016. She loves the tightness of the school’s community and the awesome people that she has met here. Outside of the classroom you may find her pretending to be Harry Potter and concocting potions.

Room 6 (Year 5 & 6)

Mr Yoon has been a teacher at Anchorage Park since 2015. He brings his passions for digital technologies and sports to the school and is in charge of the coding club and coaches the soccer, softball and basketball teams.

Joanne McCreanor

Assistant Principal and Junior School Leader,

Mrs McCreanor has been a teacher at Anchorage Park since 2015. She has a passion in practical mathmatics skills and a keen interest in ensuring that all students reach their full potential in the subject.

Room 7 (Year 1 & 2)

Mrs Govendar has taught at Anchorage Park for far too long to remember! She leads the Enviro Team and has a keen interest in gardening. Outside of school she loves her cat and spending time with her family.

Mrs Newell has been teaching at Anchorage Park since 2018. Outside of school she keeps herself busy with her children and involvement in her church.

Kristy Benjamin

Room 10 (Year 2)

Miss Benjamin has been a teacher at Anchorage Park since 2014. Her favourite subjects when she was at school were art, drama and music. She loves to sing and it's not unusual for her class to hear her singing instructions to them.

Room 11 (New Entrants)

Mrs Soutar has taught at Anchorage Park since 2013. She brings a love of literacy to the new entrants’ classroom. She coordinates the school’s Kapa Haka groups. Outside of school you will find her catching up with friends and family while shopping, fishing or watching the rugby.

Mrs Lo has been a teacher aide at Anchorage Park since 2004. She believes that “Your self worth is determined by you, you don’t have to depend on someone else telling you who you are” therefore she encourages all students to achieve highly in any area they are good at. Mrs Lo is great at helping Chinese families to settle into the school.

Paula has been a teacher aide at Anchorage Park since 2017. Her favourite things about the school are the friendly staff and the children she gets to work with.

Trish has been a teacher aide at Anchorage Park since 2000 and loves the positiveness of the school. Her favourite thing about when she was at school was being with her friends and being the bell monitor.

Office Administrator

Annabelle has been working in the Office since 2017 and before that she was a teacher aide in the satellite unit. She loves the sense of community around the school and the fact there is always someone willing to help out.

Susan has been working in the Office at Anchorage Park since 2016. Her favourite things about working at the school is the family atmosphere and being able to give back to the primary school that her children went to.

The Board of Trustees is an elected body of parents and staff who oversee the management of school finances, property, facilities, staff and pupil welfare, and the provision of a balanced curriculum in accordance with National Curriculum Statements.

PTA

Anchorage Park Parent Teacher Association supports the school with fundraising and aims to strengthen the relationships between the school, students, families and the wider community through regular events.

Events that the PTA have hosted inclue: Annual family fun nights, school discos, special lunch days, school sports fun days, fundraising BBQs and food stalls at special events, such as the LIVE What Now filming.

Sommerville Special School Satellite Classes

Anchorage Park School is proud to host two satellite Sommerville Special School classrooms on our site.  

They proudly wear our Anchorage Park School uniform and we include our satellite students in whole school events. Satellite Class students have the opportunity to integrate into classroom programmes whenever possible.

Anchorage Park Community Centre

There is an additional two classroom block beside the school, which is used as a community centre. The centre offers a variety of activities including get fit classes, art and craft classes, preschool play groups and community group meetings.
